About the Maker

Every flute at Chanting Drone Flutes is handmade from start to finish — shaped, tuned, and finished by hand, one instrument at a time. Bodies are turned from carefully selected hardwoods and accented with contrasting species, then hand-rubbed with polyurethane while the sound bore is left unsealed to preserve the wood’s natural resonance.

Flutes are concert-tuned to 440Hz or 432Hz, built around the Minor Pentatonic scale that makes Native American style flutes so naturally easy to play expressively. Many pieces carry a hand-carved detail — a feather, a flame — or a stone, gemstone, or fossil inlay set into the finished surface.

Beyond the standard catalog, collector’s-edition pieces push further: reclaimed and air-dried slabs, one-of-a-kind inlay work, and display stands built specifically for a single flute — functional instruments that are also stand-alone sculptural pieces.

Have a specific vision in mind? Every custom order starts as a conversation about key, wood, tuning, carving, and inlay — not a fixed catalog of options.
